Entertainment Weekly reports that "Chris Hemsworth, the doomed elder Captain Kirk from Star Trek, has landed the starring role in the remake of Red Dawn" and will reprise the role of Jed Eckert. Patrick Swayze played Jed in the original Red Dawn. The casting of a character from the original movie raises some interesting questions. For one, will the new movie follow the storyline from the original, as the casting of a character from the first movie indicates, or will the same characters confront a new Red enemy (like the Chinese)?
